03 May 2015: Minnesota Wild head coach Mike Yeo talks to the media in action during game 2 of round 2 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs between the Minnesota Wild and the Chicago Blackhawks at the United Center, in Chicago, IL.

The Anaheim Ducks and Calgary Flames are currently the two Pacific Division clubs sitting without head coaches for next season – and now, both are going to be interviewing former Minnesota Wild bench boss Mike Yeo.

Michael Russo of the Star Tribune reported on Wednesday that he expects the Flames to sit down today with Yeo, as Flames GM Brad Treliving will have the day off for Team Canada today (he’s currently serving as co-general manager of the national roster at the World Championships).

Yeo brought the Wild to the Western Conference semifinals in both 2014 and 2015, but was dismissed midway through the 2015-16 season after the Central Division club went on a poor run in January and February. His tenure with the Wild was his first NHL head coaching gig, but the former Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, Pittsburgh Penguins, and and Houston Aeros coach has been standing behind the bench in some capacity or another since the 2000-01 season.

The Flames dismissed head coach Bob Hartley after they missed the postseason in the 2015-16 campaign, coming off a year in which they advanced to the second round off a playoff series win against the Vancouver Canucks. Yeo likely isn’t their only candidate for the gig, but certainly wouldn’t be their worst choice for a replacement for Hartley.

The Ducks confirmed that they had also requested permission to speak to Yeo on Tuesday.
