Jason Pominville wasn’t able to practice earlier today with the Minnesota Wild, and we now know why. He is day-to-day with what head coach John Torchetti called a lower-body injury.

He reportedly injured his leg during Saturday’s contest against the Buffalo Sabres, but he was still able to go on Sunday against the St. Louis Blues. Pominville scored the shootout winner against Buffalo, but was held pointless through just over 16 minutes of action against the Blues.

It’s unclear at this juncture whether or not he will be able to lace up the skates when Minnesota takes on the Edmonton Oilers tomorrow at the Xcel Energy Center.

The veteran forward has rediscovered his game since Torchetti took over for Mike Yeo. He opened the season with a 21-game goal scoring drought, but has been one of the Wild’s best forwards since the coaching change took place.

He recently attributed the resurgence to the trust that Torchetti has in his players, and has formed a deadly line alongside Nino Niederreiter and Erik Haula. All told, Pominville has 11 goals and 33 points through 67 games played for Minnesota this season. If he does indeed miss tomorrow’s contest against Edmonton, his next chance to get back into action will be on the Montreal Canadiens on the road on Saturday.

What are your thoughts on this lower-body injury, Wild fans? Are you concerned about Pominville moving forward? If he misses a game, will he be able to step back into the lineup and pick up where he left off with his linemates? Sound off in the comments down below and let us know what your thoughts are.
